Barry Ferguson admitted that he has been ‘hugely impressed’ by Celtic duo Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate.

Signed by Ange Postecoglou, the duo came to Celtic as unknown figures and Barry Ferguson thinks ‘what a find’ they have been for the club, as he told Go Radio.

During this past week, they linked up for Japan during their win over Tunisia, with Reo Hatate assisting his club and national teammate who opened the scoring.

Kyogo Furuhashi has been a breath of fresh air for the Bhoys and is slowly writing his name into the club’s legendary books.

The quick-thinking forward isn’t of that level yet, but at the age of 28, he is already getting compared to Henrik Larsson of all people, or at least suggestions that he is the best since the King donned the club’s colours.

Then there is Reo Hatate, who after a slow start to this campaign, is now starting to find his feet again after signing a new contract.

“Two players again that you never knew anything about,” said Ferguson. “But I have to be honest, I have been hugely impressed with both of them.

“Kyogo’s movement and the goalscoring. Forward player.

“Hatate. I think he has got everything you want in a midfielder. And John (Hartson) is spot on about Hatate, it takes you a bit of time to get up to speed and I am sure Brendan Rodgers would have been happy for him to go away and get minutes under his belt for Japan.

“But two of them have been brilliant finds for Celtic, there is no doubt about that.”

Another level?

On the domestic scene, the performances of Kyogo and Hatate are there for all to see.

But you just feel they have another level to reach and that can come in the Champions League because the Bhoys are trying to prove their worth, in that regard.

Crucial European ties await the team this month, continuing with Atletico Madrid next week where Kyogo will be hoping to add to his recent Champions League goal.
