Giorgos Giakoumakis is a happy man tonight after scoring another goal for Celtic and helping his team to a 4-3 victory at Tynecastle.

Giakoumakis scored a fine header from an Aaron Mooy corner, his seventh of the season in all competitions despite limited starts.

After the match, he uploaded a post to Instagram, lauding the Celtic’s squad determination to win and singling out Greg Taylor for praise: “One more goal and a tremendous victory! We showed once more what we are made of! What a guy, @gregtaylor12 😍💚🤍”

Taylor was also on the scoresheet today, scoring the fourth and decisive goal to finally sink Hearts and claim all three points. He’s not a noted goalscorer for the Bhoys – this was only his third since joining the club.

He was understandably delighted with himself, celebrating wildly with supporters and teammates after he prodded it in from close range.

Taylor gives so much to the Celtic cause, some of which goes unheralded compared to goalscorers and those assisting teammates. So it’s brilliant that he gets his moment in the limelight and that Giakoumakis is also highlighting his efforts.

The Scotland international is a very popular member of the dressing room and has been noted by both Callum McGregor and Ange Postecoglou as someone who shows vocal leadership.

At this early stage of the season, he’s one of the contenders to push on and put himself into contention for player of the year awards, but he’ll be the first to tell you there’s a long way to go.

Regardless, there’s been a fantastic turnaround in his Celtic career over the last 12 months, and I can’t wait to see what he can do from this point. He deserves the plaudits, from his fellow players and from fans!
