Celtic will be big favourites heading into the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen.

Brendan Rodgers has a 100% win rate in the Scottish Cup and after destroying St Johnstone 5-0 at Hampden, the Hoops boss will be confident against Jimmy Thelin’s side.

Celtic hammered Aberdeen the last time both club’s met at Hampden in the League Cup semi-final back in November and fans will be looking for a repeat performance.

And it seems that that is what Ally McCoist expects too after Alan Brazil let slip what the former Rangers man told him off-air about the Pittodrie club’s chances of living the old trophy.

Both Brazil and McCoist enjoy a bit of friendly banter on their regular morning radio show and that was clearly on show after Celtic-supporting Brazil offered an idea to help Rangers win the title.

Speaking on talkSPORT Brazil said [1m], “You mentioned Shawfield earlier. Should we maybe give Rangers an eight point start handicap and give Dundee, Hibs, Hearts and Dundee…”

McCoist: “What has that got to do with Shawfield?”

Brazil: “They have the handicapp for dogs. They put one trap way in front and the favourites at the back. We give them a few yards start, the inferior dogs. So we’d give Rangers a wee start. Make it interesting.”

McCoist reckons Aberdeen have no chance against Celtic in the Scottish Cup

On the defence, McCoist then blabbered on about Rangers’ record in Europe’s second-tier completion and that is when Brazil let his Celtic prediction out the bag.

McCoist continued, “We haven’t had a good season, but once again, we’re flying the flag in Europe for the country, right? We do generally speak, fly the flag for the country in Europe.

“We’ve had a terrible season, domestically, right? And if we don’t win it, it looks like the only team capable of winning anything in the country is Celtic. I mean, Aberdeen will have something to say about the final after a semi-final win over Hearts.”

Brazil: “You told me about half an hour ago, they were as well not turning up. They’re going to get gubbed.”

McCoist: “I didn’t say that. I’ll be supporting Aberdeen in the final, don’t you worry about that.”

Brendan Rodgers has never lost to Aberdeen in any cup competition. In fact, one of his most memorable wins was the Scottish Cup final where Celtic were crowned Invincible treble winners.

Celtic fans will be looking forward to the Hampden date in May and the chance to set another treble-winning record.

As for McCoist, next season is all he will have to look forward to regardless of the Hampden result as Celtic’s domination means his team finishes trophyless again.
