Celtic made their fifth summer signing after the club announced the loan capture of Barcelona youngster, Alex Valle, this morning.
Brendan Rodgers was delighted with the signing and believes that Valle will be a great addition to the team as he will ‘complement’ Celtic’s attacking style as well as contribute defensively to the team.
Valle will also give Greg Taylor some much-needed competition and should the Scotland defender get injured, also offer cover in an area of the team Celtic have been lacking in over the last couple of seasons.
And now that Valle is officially a Celtic player, albeit temporarily, how do fans of both Barcelona and Celtic feel about the move?
67 Hail Hail takes a wee look at the reaction online.
Barcelona fans hail ‘exciting’ Celtic move
The Barcelona fans responded to the La Liga club announcement on X and, by and large, the majority are extremely happy with the temporary move:
One Barca fan predicts success for Valle at Celtic, “Best of luck Alex Valle. You will rock” and another said, “Exciting move for Alex Valle! Extending with Barca till 2026 and loaning to Celtic for experience. A win-win for development and exposure.”
However, one Barcelona fan highlights Valle’s potential and is worried that there is not enough cover at his own club in the left-back position:
And another Barcelona feels the same, “Alex Valle was the player I was expecting to see ahead of Martin” as another put, “I think he is better than the LB left to cover Balde”.
So from a Barcelona fan’s point of view, it does seem like Celtic have got a player with very good potential and skill.
Celtic fans delighted with Valle capture but want more
Many Celtic fans are delighted that Brendan Rodgers has made his fifth summer signing but they don’t want the club to stop there.
One Celtic fan said, “Glad to have a left-back. One we have a chance of signing permanently would be nice.” as another wants a different kind of announcement, “Brilliant, but make sure wee Greg gets a new contract, he’s earned it.”
One fan said more signings need to be made to get the club ready for the new season:
Another fan posted, “Finally!! Right go on and announce Engels, Bogusz and Trusty and even throw in a surprise” whilst another said, “Nice one. Although I rate Taylor and he gives us 100% effort. It’s good to have a class backup.”

Overall the majority of the Celtic fans seem delighted with the signing of Valle but with just over two days left of the transfer window, the message is clear.
Fans want more signings and want them done quickly because with the Champions League coming up next month, Celtic supporters want to see the team equipped to compete with the cream of European football.
