The fallout over Celtic defender Liam Scales’ red card for the Republic of Ireland against England is drawing a lot of attention from some big-named pundits.
Already this morning 67 Hail Hail has told how Roy Keane slammed the Celtic star for ‘stupidity’ after his ordering off triggered a collapse by the Irish inside Hampden.
Even Harry Kane admitted Liam Scales being sent off was ‘for the best’ as it helped his England teammates record the emphatic win.
The Republic of Ireland camp’s view on the Celtic stopper was slightly different as the manager, Heimir Hallgrimsson, admitted that there was ‘no need’ to send Scales off after the penalty was conceded and a second yellow was delivered.
And now, it’s the turn of Gary Lineker as the former England international shares what he told Micah Richards almost immediately after Liam Scales took the long walk down the Wembley tunnel.

“I thought the distances were really good, organization, and there was no shot in the first half. So if you’re coming away from that defensively from Ireland, you’ve done the job.
“Second half, yeah, it was, the sending-off killed the game, really.”
Lineker replied, “Yeah, I think it’s fair to say, as you both made the point, that the ‘Scales’ of the game tipped in England’s favour when they got the red card.
Richards: “How long did it take you to think of that? How long did it take you?”
Lineker: “You know how long it took me because I put it on the group chat about 12 seconds after it happened.”

Scales returns to Celtic Park now where Brendan Rodgers will resume his unbeaten start to the domestic campaign and aim to qualify from the Champions League group phase.
It all starts this weekend as Celtic’s fixture list enters into the busiest period of the calendar and Scales, if selected, has three big games where he can shut his critics up.
