Luke McCowan is certainly the man of the moment at Celtic after the former Dundee man’s recent performances for the club.

McCowan inspired Celtic’s win over Motherwell at the weekend and has done his chances of getting a start against Dundee tonight at Celtic Park.

The central midfielder has made seven appearances in the green and white Hoops since his big summer move and has scored two goals this season.

McCowan made his Celtic debut against Rangers and from that day the former Dundee man has impressed the Hoops support.

However, James Forrest has said that the 26-year-old already impressed him and his Celtic teammates and shares what McCowan did from the first training session that blew him away.

Signed on transfer deadline day, it seems McCowan wasted no time in showing that he is not at Celtic simply to make up the numbers.

Forrest told the Daily Record, “All of the new players have settled in off the park, and we could see from the first day in training they would settle in on it.

“The first training session Luke had was the day before the Rangers game and right away he came in and looked really confident.

“You could tell he was really buzzing to have signed. He’s just kicked on. He’s settled in the changing room and you see his performances on the park.”

McCowan has already been tipped for a Scotland call-up after his impressive form for Celtic and Forrest is also convinced that he will produce the goods for his country when Steve Clarke comes calling.

“You’ve seen it already with the impact he’s made from the bench and it was good for him to get a start the other day,” Forrest continued, “He’s a Celtic player now and doesn’t look out of place. He’ll want to keep going and build on this.

“I think if you asked Luke, he’d say the most important thing for him right now is to concentrate on here and if he keeps doing what he’s doing then he’s definitely got the ability, confidence and character to be involved with Scotland.

“He’s made the step up to Celtic and I’ve got no doubts about him if he gets called up.”

McCowan has at least two games to prove to Clarke he deserves a Scotland call-up before he names his squad for the next international break.

If McCowan impresses against Dundee tonight and again if selected to face Aberdeen on Saturday, the Celtic midfielder will surely be involved in the national set up next month.
