Celtic have secured their first signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna.

The all-action winger, who can operate on both flanks, has penned a five-and-a-half-year contract with Celtic.

The news was announced late last night, with the 24-year-old smiling in a long-sleeved Celtic top, posting a message to his new supporters via Instagram.

Nicolas Kuhn labelled the Scottish Premiership champions as an ‘amazing’ club and added how he ‘can’t wait’ to showcase his qualities at Paradise.

It has been suggested that Celtic have paid Rapid Vienna ‘£3 million’ for the services of the ‘dynamic’ winger, who has also been on the books of Dutch giants Ajax and Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich.

With Nicolas Kuhn through the building, it will be straight to business for the player and preparing for a Scottish Cup tie against minnows, Buckie Thistle.

Nonetheless, upon putting pen to paper and signing for the Hoops, this is what the club’s new boy had to say to the fans.

“Excited to have joined this amazing club,” said Kuhn. “Can’t wait to get started and see you all at Paradise. Come on the Hoops.”

Brendan Rodgers signs a winger

Interestingly, this is the road Brendan Rodgers has decided to go down first up, rather than bring in another midfielder, striker, centre-back or fullback.

Many would argue, and understandably so, that this was the last area that needed bulking up with quality and money spent because there are enough numbers in that position.

That might still be the case, but you will now assume that certain players will depart, either this month or signs that they will be gone in the summer.

Could someone like Mikey Johnston be at risk? It has been another indifferent season for the Republic of Ireland star, whilst Rocco Vata seems to be edging closer to the exit.
