Kelechi Iheanacho joined Celtic at a time of much tension between fans and club.
A disappointing transfer window had left manager Brendan Rodgers feeling ’empty’, with several top targets not being signed.
Following his release from Sevilla, Iheanacho became Celtic’s only option, with no striking reinforcements incoming prior to the closure of the transfer window.
He may not have been the Hoops’ first choice, but he has made some start. In three appearances, he has been involved in goals in every game.
And after marking his European debut for the club with a goal, there was plenty of support coming from his homeland.

Will Kelechi Iheanacho play for Nigeria at AFCON?
Iheanacho has 58 caps for Nigeria, but faces intense competition for a spot in the Super Eagles’ line-up.
It’s fair to say that the national side is blessed with striker options. Superstar striker Victor Osimhen stands out as the main man, with Victor Boniface, Terem Moffi and Tolu Arokadare all earning big-money moves to Europe’s top leagues.
He also faces competition from two former Rangers men in Cyriel Dessers and Umar Sadiq. No words needed on those two.
But the least that Iheanacho can do is continue his impressive form – and regardless of whether it gets him in the international picture, it’s exactly what Celtic need.
