The fallout of Auston Trusty’s challenge on Jack Butland after Celtic beat Rangers continues this week.

It has been widely accepted that Trusty is a lucky Bhoy after he avoided a red card after his challenge on Butland in the Rangers goal.

The Celtic defender appeared to leave his foot in late after Butland dived on a loose ball in the Rangers penalty box.

Referee Nick Walsh told Rangers captain James Tavernier that the force of the challenge wasn’t enough to earn the American Celt a red card.

And now, it seems that Rangers are going to the SFA to demand an explanation from Willie Collum.

‘Furious’ Rangers to tell the SFA Celtic defender Trusty ‘endangered’ Butland

Whilst no one is denying that Trusty’s challenge was daft and mistimed, Rangers plan to tell Willie Collum that the Celtic star ‘endangered’ their number one goalkeeper’s ‘safety’.

As the Daily Record reports, “The decision has infuriated Ibrox chiefs and Record Sport understands the club will now take the matter up with head of refereeing Collum and insist the incident endangered Butland’s safety, and therefore should have resulted in a dismissal.”

It will be interesting to hear the VAR audio of the incident to see how the video referees viewed the challenge and until then, Rangers and Celtic fans will need to wait and see how the SFA react to the Ibrox club’s approach.

When Celtic will play St Mirren in the Premier Sports Cup final, fixture rearrangement

Celtic’s fixture list is piling up this season as the Bhoys continue to fight on all four fronts in domestic and European competition.

The date for the final is the 14th of December and Celtic have Falkirk at home in the Scottish Premiership.

That game will obviously be moved as Celtic face Roma at Parkhead on the previous Thursday before the final.

The Christmas schedule is generally the busiest time for all football fans, but for Celtic supporters, this time of year will be particularly gruesome as the Bhoys look to close stage one of a potential treble.
