What retired Swiss international always tells players about signing for Celtic
Former Swiss international Ramon Vega has revealed what he always tells players that want to play for Celtic, as he urged Cameron Carter-Vickers to move to Scotland permanently.
Carter-Vickers has been at Celtic since the summer on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy. Last week, reports came out that talks between the Hoops and Spurs were going well. An agreement is expected to be reached before the end of the campaign [Daily Record].
However, it’s unclear what the USA international would make of the prospect of a permanent move. As of yet, he’s been keeping his cards close to his chest. Understandably given his long-term future remains up in the air.
But Vega believes it’s not even a debate as he believes it’ll be a massive career boost for CCV if he makes his loan spell permanent. As quoted by the Daily Record, Vega said: “I hope that Carter-Vickers has the opportunity that I didn’t have. The chance was not there for me to stay because I certainly would have done.
“If I was him and the opportunity is there for this move to become a permanent thing, it’s not even a question mark because you will improve an enormous amount. You would be taking a massive step up in your career to be working within a massive club.
“Every time any player would ask me about going to Celtic, I’d say don’t even think about it. Get on a bike and cycle there because you are going to play very good football and represent a huge club.”

Carter-Vickers to Celtic looks a match made in heaven
There’s someting about the connection between Carter-Vickers and Celtic that just clicked. Both needed each other other and you can see the affect the club has had on the player and the player has had on the club.
If you were to ask Carter-Vickers where his next move lies, you would hope it would indeed be a permanent move to Glasgow.
However, what’s unknown at the moment is just how much interest there is in the player. It could be the case that other reputable sides in Europe are keeping an eye on him. Especially given the exposure he’s had with Tottenham in the past.
Celtic have a lot to offer Carter-Vickers in the long-run. However, you would just hope that there are no clubs sniffing from Europe’s top leagues. If that’s the case, it’ll make any move for him a lot trickier.
For now, however, we simply enjoy the rest of his performances during the second half of the season and pray an agreement can be reached. Having him in the door for the summer would be a major boost for the manager. Having to replace him, meanwhile, already looks a daunting task.
Hopefully, he asks former Celtic star Vega for advice. At least we would know that he would be left in no doubt as to where his future lies.
