Alexandro Bernabei has enjoyed a season on loan at Internacional as his Celtic future remains a mystery.

Whilst it is widely accepted that Bernabei is likely to move permanently from Celtic Park to the Brazilian Serie A, there has still been no official movement on the Argenitine’s situation.

67 Hail Hail discussed yesterday how Internacional’s Vice President spoke about the Celtic defender and how negotiations with the Parkhead club have been ‘complex’.

The Brazilian top-flight season ended on the 8th of December and Bernabei’s loan spell ended at the end of the month.

So what is being said about the Argentinian’s future in the media as there appears to be confusion on whether or not Bernabei will leave Celtic for Internacional?

Itatiaia Esporte says a photo Bernabei shared on Instagram of him driving to Internacional’s friendly with Mexico hints that the deal with Celtic is already done.

Vozes do Gigante reports that the Brazilian club has battled competition from four clubs to win the race to sign Bernabei from Celtic. Palmeiras, Atlético-MG, Sevilla and Real Betis were all named as potential suitors.

SC Inter says the only reason Bernabei’s deal has not been announced is that ‘the player’s airline tickets have not yet been purchased’ but an announcement is expected today.

What Alexandro Bernabei has said about leaving Celtic for Internacional

Bernabei has never directly addressed leaving Celtic permanently but it does seem like he does want to leave the club for Brazil.

Whilst he’s not said he wants to leave Celtic, Bernabei has admitted that he struggled with life in Scotland.

Bernabei said, “It was cool. I got to know life there, it’s something else, it’s another life.

“I’m used to Argentina, meals were at a specific time, and in Scotland, it was at a time that I wasn’t used to.

“The language, coexistence, the way of living, learning and getting to know a different culture was what I learned most there.”
