What’s happening at Norwich City could impact Celtic’s hopes for Adam Idah

As Adam Idah returns to Norwich City after his loan spell at Celtic, the fans will look back at his short stay at the club with fondness.

The Republic of Ireland international arrived in Glasgow as a relatively unknown quantity after falling out of favour at Norwich City.

And after four months at the club, Idah leaves as a champion with a league and Scottish Cup double to his name after his superb last-minute Hampden winner saw off Rangers.

Idah said goodbye to the Celtic fans this week but Brendan Rodgers has made his intentions clear to the Celtic board with his wish to sign up the 23-year-old permanently.

However, what’s happening at Idah’s parent club right now could have a significant impact on making that move happen.

Norwich City’s managerial hunt could impact Celtic’s transfer hope

Norwich City had huge hopes of making it to the English Premier League via the play-off this season but after losing in the semi-finals to Leeds United, they sacked their manager, David Wagner.

Out of favour under Wagner, it seemed like Idah had no future at the Championship club. Now that he’s gone, all that could change now.

According to the BBC, The Canaries are set to appoint Johannes Hoff Thorup as their new gaffer and this could work for and against Celtic’s intended pursuit of Idah this summer.

If Thorup is appointed he may well want to take a closer look at Idah after his superb form for Celtic since January.

If the Norwegian likes the look of the Irishman it may well scupper any hopes that Rodgers has of bringing Idah to Celtic permanently.

The Celtic fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that uncertainty over the managerial appointment could also work in their favour.

Idah will now need to go back to his club and impress all over again. The Irishman could well be in a frame of mind where he wants to kick on in his career and view Celtic as a platform to do that after already impressing Rodgers.

Whatever happens, the Celtic supporters will be hoping that Champions League football will persuade Idah to swap the yellow shirt of Norwich for the green and white Hoops of the Bhoys next season
