You’d expect a player of Joe Hart’s calibre to command respect, and according to Celtic defender Josip Juranovic, that’s entirely the case.
Juranovic, an incredible value signing for Celtic in the summer, has beamed about the importance of the former England goalkeeper. Celtic have conceded just 13 goals in 23 Scottish Premiership games [BBC], and the Croatian international has played an integral role.
However, he’s not taking the credit. Instead, he wants Premier League winner Hart to take the plaudits. The two have struck up a friendship since both coming to the club, and the right-back wants everyone to know just how influential the former Manchester City man is.

Juranovic explained [Celtic FC]: “Joe Hart is incredible.
“Like a person first, then like a goalkeeper. He has a huge past behind him, and when he speaks something, you listen. That’s it.”
But if you thought he was done complimenting his team-mates, think again. Juranovic applauded Callum McGregor, and hinted at the camaraderie behind the scenes. He said [Celtic FC]: “When I came here first, captain Callum [McGregor] was so, so great. He text me when I come here, after that I feel like… I’m home.
“I’m with my family here. We give for each other everything. On the pitch, off the pitch, it doesn’t matter.”
Josip Juranovic can’t get enough of Celtic life, with leaders McGregor and Hart setting the example
Firstly; Josip Juranovic is great value at press conferences. There’s a cheekiness to him, and a permanent smile etched onto the Croatian international’s face. Journalists enjoy it, he enjoys it, the whole thing is great.
Secondly, Juranovic has always stressed the importance of his teammates. He has 100% bought into the culture at Celtic, and not in a generic “the lads in the dressing room are great” way. Juranovic wants you to know exactly how impactful the leaders of this team are.
That’s crucial from a playing perspective. But from a supporters’ perspective – especially after last season – that sense of togetherness is really comforting. We’ve seen it play out in the wild celebrations against Ross County and Dundee United. Or in the more combative moments, when a Celtic player is getting hassle off an opponent.

This is a unit.
Juranovic’s attitude has surely helped. The signings this season all foster a spirit that’s conducive to good results, and it only serves to reinforce what Ange has said about signing people, and not just footballers.
It’s encouraging stuff. And it’s exactly what you want to hear going into a full-blooded, crucial Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park.
