Where Brendan Rodgers wants to manage next after his controversial Celtic exit

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic exit was the most controversial of the club’s recent history.

Not only did Rodgers leave Celtic unexpectedly, the fallout afterward was one of the most spectacular ever witnessed by the Hoops support.

Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond absolutely filleted Rodgers in a statement that pretty much took apart the former Hoops gaffer’s character.

But even after all the fallout, it appears that Rodgers is still a wanted man by clubs as the former Celtic boss’ next destination becomes clearer.

Brendan Rodgers is ‘likely to go to Saudi Arabia’ after Celtic exit

Journalist Scott Burns was speaking about the possible next destination of Rodgers and he says he’s been told the ex-Celtic boss will head to the Middle East.

Burns told Hotline Live, “Brendan Rodgers, yes, the two-time Celtic manager. Obviously, he left Celtic there last month. He’s already been sounded out about possible new jobs in England already.

“But the feedback so far is that, as it stands, he is likely to go to Saudi Arabia come the summer. There are a couple of clubs who are interested. I think there are agents working on his behalf.

“There’s a real strong interest there. And the feeling will certainly put the clubs who have inquired about him is that as it stands, that’s going to be his likely next destination come the summer.”

There is another destination that will ‘change the goalposts’ for ex-Celtic man Rodgers

While the appeal of Saudi Arabia is most likely simply down to money, Burns also shared that there is one destination that would change Rodgers’ mind.

Burns continued, “Although the door remains open if a big English Premier League club was to come in or a top European club that floats his boat, that might change the goalposts.

“But as it stands, the most likely outcome is him heading to the Middle East. It’s not really a surprise because I think Brendan had the chance to go to Saudi Arabia. There was interest before he came back to Celtic the second time around.

“At that point, he wasn’t really that keen on it. He was looking for another top European job, obviously, when it’s Celtic. But this time around, I think, well, I’m told the feeling is that he would be willing to now go out there.”

Rodgers will still be highly sought after because, despite the issues at Celtic, he has proven once again that he is a winner after his time in Glasgow.

Two doubles in two seasons is no mean feat as Rodgers came within a whisker of another treble last season.

Wherever he lands, Celtic fans will follow Rodgers’ career with an interested eye to see how he fares after his unceremonious Parkhead exit this time around.
