Celtic fans are known the world over for the size of their fanbase. Whenever the Hoops travel when competing in Europe or even for pre-season friendlies, a sea of green and white will be witnessed no matter where the team goes.

We all remember the scenes of the 2003 UEFA Cup Final when Celtic took over 100,000 fans to Seville to take on Porto.

The Celtic fans will also remember descending on the cities of Liverpool, Blackburn, Stuttgart and Vigo on the way to that historic final.

Last season’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea saw the Celtic fans turn out in their droves and before that Ange Postecoglou took Celtic to Australia for his Homecoming Tour where thousands of Hoops supporters turned out to welcome their heroes.

The Celtic fans’ commitment to following their team really is something else and now, a list published by overseas media outlet, 23 DERECE, has ranked the Parkhead support in their Top 25 list of most passionate football supporters in the world.

Placed 24th in the list, the Celtic fans have been listed in the company of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund who are famous the world over for their ‘Yellow Wall’.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Juventus fans all make the list for domestic clubs.

National teams supporters also make the cut and whilst Scotland is nowhere to be seen (or Rangers for that matter), the Celtic support is rubbing shoulders with the colourful party-mad support of Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Spain.

The fact that a major Turkish media outlet is naming the Celtic fans in such company is a testament to the phenomenal dedication and fanatical support the Hoops supporters offer the team and how their reputation goes beyond these shores as a respected and dedicated group in footballing circles across the world.
