What kind of goalkeeper is Mat Ryan?

The kind of teams that Ryan has played for (as well as his height) will leave no surprise that he is known as a ball-playing “sweeper keeper”.

Right-footed, Ryan is confident taking the ball under pressure and picking out short, medium and long-range passes for possession-based sides.

On the shot-stopping side, he has faced criticism in his career, especially in his final year at Brighton. Regardless, he is known as an effective penalty stopper.
