Scott Brown was always Box Office during his time at Celtic.
The former captain managed more than 600 appearances for the club in the Scottish Premiership as well as in European competition in the Champions League and Europa League respectively.
Broony played against the world’s biggest clubs during his time in Glasgow including both AC Milan and their rivals Inter who both squared off against each other in last night’s Supercoppa Italiana final.
The game took place in Saudi Arabia and ended in a 3-2 victory for AC who stormed back from two goals down to lift the silverware thanks to a stoppage time Tammy Abraham winner.
Scott Brown was namechecked on commentary during Milan derby
But what was perhaps a tad unexpected was when Brown’s name was mentioned on the Premier Sports broadcast and, indeed, by someone known a little closer to home.
Former Kilmarnock midfielder and captain Manuel Pascali was on the commentary team for the channel and he was asked about his time in Scotland during his career.
Commentator Patrick Kendrick was interested to discover who Pascali enjoyed squaring off against from his seven years at Killie and the Italian was more than happy to oblige.
However, rather than give his take on the toughest striker he took on, Pascali insisted it was “old school” Brown who gave him some of his toughest matches and his fondest memories as an opponent.
Manuel Pascali felt Brown was one of his favourite opponents
“In my seven years in Scotland, Scott Brown is one. I remember him about, his character,” Pascali said.
Kendrick added: “Broony! There you have it, Scott Brown if you’re listening, Manuel Pascali still has your number.”
To which the Italian added: “You know, there was always respect, by the way.
“We loved to play each other, against each other, because we know we are kind of old school players, loved a tackle, loved the banter, but there was always, always respect.”
Pascali is not the only man to credit the Celtic legend’s abilities on the pitch.
Former teammate Charlie Mulgrew insisted the ex-Hoops skipper could have played in the Premier League.
