Jens Berthel Askou has been touted for the Celtic job this summer as Andy Walker says the Motherwell boss could oversee a ‘big rebuilding job’.
The Fir Park boss has wowed the SPFL and has taken Motherwell to within one place of Celtic to fourth place in the Scottish Premiership table.
And with Martin O’Neill out of contract at Celtic this summer, Walker believes Askou has to be on the Parkhead board’s list of candidates after watching Motherwell’s football this season.

Walker said on The Go Radio Football Show, “The way they play through the midfield, the way they create space, the way they use the full width of the pitch.
“It’s just very impressive. And I’m sure he’s got to be on Celtic’s list. I don’t think it will be Martin O’Neill next season.
“I don’t think he wants it.”

With the Celtic first team squad made up of a number of loan signings and players who clearly want to leave in the summer, there is a huge rebuild coming the Parkhead club’s way this year.
And it seems Walker believes Askou is the perfect candidate to lead that.
“I think there’s a huge turnaround coming at Celtic,” continued Walker, “Whatever happens, they’ll still need to get a lot of players in.
“There’s four or five who want to leave. There’s a lot of players on loan. There’s a big rebuilding job to be done.
“You need to build a new team. And yeah, it’s going to be a big job for someone. You just hope that whoever it is, they’ll have a better summer transfer window than the last two.”
Celtic fans will not be focused on the next manager just yet with an important Europa League tie coming up.
The title race with Hearts and Rangers also takes priority, as does the Scottish Cup after being drawn against the Ibrox club.
