Read MoreWill a potential record transfer lead to Celtic return for Benkovic?
Celtic could benefit from a transfer deal which involves former manager Brendan Rodgers. His Leicester side are reported to be close to signing Brighton’s Lewis Dunk for a club record £30 million.
Should they complete the deal for a new centre-half, where would that leave Filip Benkovic, who spent last season on loan at Celtic Park, but has since returned to Leicester?
Would like a return

Benkovic himself has admitted that he would like to return to Celtic next season if it was possible. If Benkovic is unlikely to be given a start for Leicester, another loan deal could suit both parties.
The centre-back was excellent in his loan spell for the Hoops. He was particularly good in a partnership with Dedryck Boyata.

Can form partnership
Boyata may have gone, but Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic remain in the squad. Benkovic is more than capable of forming a partnership with those players.
Celtic are in need of centre-back reinforcements this season. Boyata has left the club. He will be a big miss, all things considered.

Even though he made errors at times, he usually turned in a big performance when it counted. That needs to be replaced in the squad.
Benkovic would be a good replacement for Boyata. However, it is up to Brendan Rodgers and Leicester to decide the player’s fate. Some upcoming transfer moves will hopefully pave the way for Benkovic’s return to Glasgow.
