Scott Sinclair clearly seems intent on getting his teeth into the new season with Celtic. The 30-year-old, who signed a one-year extension in May, didn’t feature too much under Neil Lennon but is keen to put that right. That’s if his latest social media post is anything to go by.
Sinclair took to Instagram to post a photo detailing some of the finest stats from Celtic’s treble treble achievement. The Englishmen also posted the caption: “One more week until we go again”.
Will he be fancied?
Sinclair is clearly itching to get back on the pitch and taste more glory for the club, but will he given a chance by Neil Lennon? The winger hasn’t exactly been the Northern Irishman’s favourite man during his time in charge.
In total, he started six of Lennon’s 14 games as interim boss. He came off the bench in six more and was unused in the other two.
However, that doesn’t tell the full story. The majority of the Englishman’s starts came during Lennon’s first few games in charge. Sinclair started just two of the final nine matches of the season. He was often dropped for the bigger games, with the likes of Mikey Johnston and Jonny Hayes routinely starting ahead of him.
Sinclair started neither match against Rangers and only made brief cameos in the two matches at Hampden, and at Pittodrie as we clinched the league title.
Perhaps the most damning stat of all is that Sinclair is yet to score under his new boss. The Englishmen’s last strike arrived, fittingly, in Brendan Rodgers’ final game in charge. He’ll be hoping to get off the mark early next season and force himself into his new manager’s plans.
