New Celtic signing Vakoun Issouf Bayo got his first goal in the Hoops in a convincing reserve win against Dundee.

The Bhoys trounced the Dee by six goals to nil at Cappielow in yesterday’s tie.

Other surprise players for Celtic included Scott Alan and a third consecutive start for Marvin Compper.

However, has Bayo done enough to make Saturday’s Aberdeen squad?

It’s not been explained why the Ivorian hasn’t been in the last few Celtic squads.

He made his debuted at the very end of the nail-biting last minute victory away to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

It was nothing to write home about for the 22-year-old in what was merely a cameo appearance.

However, fans would have been expecting him to push on to feature in more matches.

Unfortunately, Bayo hasn’t been in the squad for Celtic’s trouncing of Motherwell at Parkhead and both of Neil Lennon’s matches.

The former FC DAC man appeared out of nowhere to lead the line against Dundee in a reserve tie and scored after 37 minutes.

Perhaps his sights will now be set on getting a spot in the squad for Aberdeen on Saturday.

Neil Lennon will have more options

Bayo in the squad will give Lennon an extra option in attack away from Oliver Burke and Odsonne Edouard.

The Ivory Coast youth international’s aerial and heading ability is his most known trait to fans.

It will be a very physical tie against Derek McInnes’ men and the match may hinge on a set-piece.

The Hoops lack ability in the air but throwing Bayo in would definitely help that.

Partnering him with Edouard in a 4-4-2 will give the likes of Scott McKenna something extra to think about.

He is an untried and untested quantity in the Scottish Premiership and can make the difference.

It remains to be seen if the Irishman trusts his previous occupant’s last signing.
