Will we see Marian Shved or Vakoun Bayo for Celtic tomorrow?

Returning Celtic players Marian Shved and Vakoun Issouf Bayo still have question marks hovering over them heading into tomorrow night.

Last week, Neil Lennon revealed to the press that both players had returned to training (Celtic TV). He claimed that the first-leg against Nomme Kalju would prove too soon, but that they were getting back to full fitness.

Since then, there’s been nothing on whether either is ready for action in Estonia this week. Neither man has managed to make a competitive appearance this season due to knocks before the campaign started.

So will we see either start against Kalju, or potentially come on from the bench? An update will hopefully occur within the next 24 hours when Lenny eventually does his pre-match press conference.

Previous comments, however, suggest that we may have to wait a while before we see Shved start in particular. Lennon name-dropped both Lewis Morgan and Scott Sinclair as potential starters tomorrow night (Scottish Sun). After naming them outright, it’s difficult to see Lenny going back on that and not featuring either.

With Sinclair on the left and Morgan on the right, that would rule out Shved starting given he’s a natural right-winger. He can also play up front, but there’s no reason to believe Lennon will try that one out. With a bit of luck, we could see him on the bench at least.

Returning Celtic players have hopefully overcome their injuries

As for Bayo, there’s no reason to believe he’ll be thrown in from the cold. The striker has been out for a month now after picking up an injury against Wiener Sport-Club.

Lennon isn’t one for rushing players back. With the form that Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard are in at this early stage of the campaign, either/or would do nicely tomorrow.

Griff in particular appears to be the standout. There’s no need to risk Edouard, and the Scotland international could do with more competitive goals under his belt.

Given that need for Griff, it wouldn’t make much sense to toss a recently injured Bayo straight into any away-day European match.

Again, he could be a good bench-warmer to come on and ease himself back into action. But, just like Shved, there are players ahead of him who deserve their chance at the moment.

A start for either player looks extremely unlikely. But with a bit of luck, they’ll at least be on the bench and ready to come back into action when Lennon deems fit.
