Celtic will pay respect to two Lisbon Lions who recently passed on the opening day of the new league season.
As has been the case for the past seven seasons, the Hoops will unfurl the league flag prior to their opening Premiership match.
St. Johnstone are the visitors to Celtic Park on Saturday 3rd August and they will be joined by two very special guests. Liz McNeill and and Sadie Chalmers, the wives of respective Celtic legends Billy and Stevie, will help to unfurl the flag in front of a packed Paradise.

The pair, and members of their families, will attend the match as guests of the club. It is a lovely tribute from the Celtic hierarchy and one that shows that McNeill and Chalmers’ names will always be part of our history.
It would have been easy for the club to move on to new things after paying such nice respects at the tail end of last season. Of course things will inevitably move on, but both will always be remembered for what they gave the club – most notably in 1967.

The Lisbon Lions’ wives join illustrious company
The two ladies join an illustrious list of people to have unfurled the league championship flag during Celtic’s period of domination.
Here’s who has done it in the past seven seasons:
2012 – Sean Fallon
2013 – John Keane
2014 – Fergus McCann
2015 – John Clark
2016 – Bobby Lennox & Rosemary Burns
2017 – Scott Brown
2018 – Danny McGrain
