Read More"Wonderful"; Sheffield Wednesday supporters laud Celtic-bound Liam Shaw after superb pass
Sheffield Wednesday supporters were quick to tip their hats to Celtic-bound Liam Shaw for his performance last night against Rotherham.
The Owls, unfortunately, suffered a 2-1 home defeat on the night. It’s a result that leaves them seven points adrift in the relegation places with a game in-hand.
However, Shaw’s performance in Darren Moore’s first game as Wednesday manager was the highlight for many.
Celtic have the Englishman wrapped up on a long-term pre-contract agreement that will kick in next season [Daily Record]. And last night he showed glimpses of that quality highlighted by a superb role in the equaliser.
#SWFC are level! 🦉

Despite receiving the ball quicker than he seemingly expected, Shaw had the awareness to provide a superb chipped through ball for Wednesday team-mate Matt Penney. In the end, the shot rebounded off a Rotherham player and into the net, but it all came thanks to Shaw’s brilliant delivery.
Another fine individual display from Sheffield Wednesday man Liam Shaw
Stat experts WhoScored gave Shaw a solid ranking of 7.34/10 last night. The only player with a higher-rating was Barry Bannan on 7.47.
The future Celtic youngster also managed to show off his fine passing range. He secured three key passes with five of his six long balls hitting the target. He made 51 passes overall with an 84.3% success rate.
It’s another sign that Shaw is going to arrive at Parkhead and make some form of impact. The early signs are promising, and the more minutes he gets at Championship level will benefit Celtic in the long-run.

All of his focus, however, will be on saving his current club from League One. In that respect, things aren’t going well. Even with the appointment of a new manager in Moore, there was no instant upturn in results.
Hopefully that changes in the coming weeks. Sheffield have 12 more matches to try and build up their points tally, but results need to start arriving soon.
In any case, here’s a look at the fan reaction to Shaw’s display last night:
Least Liam Shaw looking like he’ll do a job for us in 3rd Div next year….oh hang on #wawaw

To be fair to Liam Shaw, think he's shown why he's still getting a game. Best I've seen him play 👏🏼

The more that I watch Liam Shaw the more and more angry I get. It’s crystal clear that he’s a special talent & yet again those idiots on the staff at S6 dithered and delayed before trying to secure a new deal with him. As soon as he was in the public domain it was too late. #swfc

#swfc tragically Liam Shaw head and shoulders our best player

Liam Shaw stands out with his quality like a sore thumb!!! Saying that does not take much to stand out with this bunch of no marks. #spineless

Liam Shaw has probably been #SWFC’s best performer tonight… He’s done really well in the role he’s been given.

What makes this worse is Liam Shaw being our best player so far by a mile……🥴

Wonderful, wonderful play and feet by Liam Shaw there. He motors forward, pulls it back for Barry Bannan but the captain's effort, first time, flies high over the bar. Lovely build-up, woeful ending. #SWFC
