Neil Lennon has announced his Celtic team for tonight’s Europa League encounter against Copenhagen, as per CelticFC.net.
The full match squad is as follows:
Starting XI – Forster, Ajer, Jullien, Simunovic, Taylor, Brown, McGregor, Forrest, Rogic, Elyounoussi, Edouard.
Substitutes – Bain, Bitton, Griffiths, Bayo, Bolingoli, Hayes, Frimpong.
After securing a 1-1 draw in Denmark last week, Celtic head into tonight’s game with a slim away goal advantage.
However, Lennon has named a team that is clearly going to go for a win. He’s packed a variety of attacking talents into his eleven.
Odsonne Edouard starts hoping to build on his nine goals from his last nine matches, capably supported by the likes of Mohamed Elyounoussi, James Forrest and Tom Rogic.
Elsewhere Scott Brown returns to the starting lineup after missing Sunday’s match against Kilmarnock.
The captain had to be substituted off last week in Denmark. Having him available for a pressure match is a massive positive.
There’s no room for Leigh Griffiths however, who will take his place on the bench and provide the Bhoys with a bit of firepower later in the match if needed.
What formation Lennon has opted for remains to be seen but my initial take is that we’ll see a back four, with Kristoffer Ajer on the right.
Celtic haven’t progressed in a post-group stage knockout European tie since 2004, so there’s understandably massive excitement about what the team can achieve tonight.
Lennon has named a team that has already shown so much consistency and attacking flair this term.
Can they go one step beyond and book a place in tomorrow’s last 16 draw?
