Celtic outcast Youssouf Mulumbu fancies his chances of winning a trophy this summer. The 32-year-old is the captain of the Democratic Republic of Congo who are set to take part in this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The African nation are one of the outsiders for the tournament in Egypt but Mulumbu certainly doesn’t lack belief.

The Hoops midfielder told the BBC: “We missed a bit of what it takes at the last tournament in 2017 and we’ve worked hard on some of it during qualification.
“If we can correct a little bit of what is missing we can go all the way to the final and even win it.”
DR Congo find themselves in Group A alongside the hosts Egypt, Uganda and Zimbabwe. They’ll open with a match against Uganda on Saturday night before Mulumbu pits his wits against Liverpool talisman Mo Salah. The final game sees his side take on Zimbabwe.

Subtle absence
It says a lot about Mulumbu’s current situation at Celtic that barely anyone has even realised he’s away. He is very much a forgotten man at the club, squeezed in at the back of a queue of about six or seven midfielders.

The 32-year-old is unlikely to have much of a future at the club so he could use this summer’s tournament to earn himself a move. The midfielder is a decent enough player but just not on a level good enough for Celtic. It will be interesting to see how he gets on against some of Africa’s elite.
