Jozo Simunovic is the latest Celtic player to be linked with a move away from the club. The Croatian, who joined in 2015, is said to be interesting Spanish side Alaves, according to the Scottish Sun.
Alaves, who finished 11th in La Liga this season, would have to pay around £4million for the centre-back’s services.

Simunovic has only become a Celtic regular recently – starting all seven games prior to the weekend’s victory over Hearts. He has formed a solid partnership with Kristoffer Ajer that saw Celtic keep six successive clean sheets between the two most recent Glasgow derbies.
He would certainly be a loss to the team, but with a potential multi-million pound deal offered, Celtic would have to think carefully about their decision.

Value for money
Celtic will have to be ruthless this summer. There can’t be any room for sentiment despite the recent achievements of the squad and players. If any deal, either incoming or outgoing, represents value for money then they must push it through.

Simunovic has been one of the best things to come from Neil Lennon’s return but it’s not so long ago that he was written off. The defender has struggled for form for the majority of the last two seasons. He also hasn’t had his injury woes to seek.
If the club’s rumoured £4million valuation is met by the Spaniards then they should move him on. With the right scouting, they could find a far better, more rounded defender than Simunovic who could step into the first team as a partner for Ajer.
