So it looks as if the David Turnbull transfer saga is finally coming to a conclusion. The BBC is reporting that the player has turned down the chance to sign for Norwich to sign for Celtic for a fee of £3.25 million.

After a week of confusion about the deal, the player has decided that his future lies with the Scottish champions.

Key asset for years

The fact that the Hoops are paying so much money for a midfielder must show that the club feel that he is going to be a key asset for many years to come.

Indeed, perhaps he can be the long-term successor to Scott Brown in the side. Brown has already praised the player in the press.

More attack minded midfielder

Now it looks as if the duo will get a chance to work together. Turnbull could be a more attacking version of Brown for the Hoops.

Goalscoring hasn’t been Brown’s forte as a player. That is not the case with Turnbull, who scored 16 goals for Motherwell last season.

However, perhaps the Hoops see Turnbull as more of a midfield general in the future. Brown started his career as a box to box midfielder, but changed into a player who wins the ball in the middle of the park for Celtic.

It remains to be seen how Turnbull will fit in to the Celtic side. But Brown can certainly be a good mentor for the player.
