Aberdeen supporters already in panic mode ahead of Celtic Park trip

It appears as though many Aberdeen supporters are already in panic mode well in advance of their opening-day trip to Celtic Park.

Indeed, the Pittodrie side have been scheduled to face the Hoops on flag day at Parkhead. Aberdeen haven’t won a league game in Glasgow’s East End since 2018 and suffered 3 defeats out of 3 against Ange Postecoglou’s title-winners last season.

Even so, a new campaign is supposed to bring fresh hope and excitement over what’s going to happen in the future. But that doesn’t appear to be the case for Aberdeen fans, who are already fuming with their lack of summer recruitment despite only being in mid June.

Indeed, their trip to Parkhead isn’t until July 31st. The Dons have been linked with a host of players including Celtic’s own Liam Scales. They’re one of the clubs you would expect to undertake heavy action this summer as they look to rebuild.

Things also haven’t been helped by a rocky start to Jim Goodwin’s Aberdeen career in which he only managed to win 2 of his first 11 games in charge.

Aberdeen supporters already struggling to get excited for Celtic Park

In truth, every game we faced off against Aberdeen in last season was certainly a battle. We didn’t manage to beat them by over a single goal in any of our 3 meetings. They also managed to score 4 goals against us in those matches too. This will be anything but straightforward.

Celtic supporters will be excited for flag day as they always are. However, at the same time, there will be a cautious optimism about the place. We know we could’ve had it easier than a game against Aberdeen regardless of the occasion.

If we think we can just turn up and win without having to put in much of a performance, that’s when we’ll end up being caught cold. Something Ange Postecoglou will be looking to avoid at all costs.

We know come flag day Celtic are going to be in a much better state themselves. Our top stars aren’t looking for a way out whilst we have several big signing targets the manager will want in well before the end of July. If anything, we’re going to be a lot stronger, as Aberdeen effectively look to rebuild their squad after a shocking campaign last season.
