Adam Idah and the opportunity to thrive at Celtic after the international break

Adam Idah has slowly made his way back into the Celtic reckoning after joining the club permanently from Norwich City earlier this window.

Two substitute appearances against Hibernian and Rangers, alongside a solitary start against St Mirren, where Idah played an hour, have come and gone since his big-money move last month.

Admittedly, Idah hasn’t looked 100% since returning to Celtic, but his international involvement with the Republic of Ireland is bound to have helped his cause over the past week.

Despite a tough outing against England last Saturday, the 23-year-old will have enjoyed coming up against some elite opponents at the Aviva Stadium. He will hope to be in contention when Ireland take on Greece tomorrow, which could provide him with a chance to get off and running for the campaign.

Either way, you get the impression that Idah will be given a better chance to shine over these next block of games for the Bhoys.

Adam Idah will be more involved over the coming weeks

Everyone knows that Celtic have a loaded fixture schedule to balance over the coming months as the Bhoys kick off their Champions League league phase campaign.

After taking on Heart of Midlothian at the weekend, Brendan Rodgers’ men face Slovan Bratislava next Tuesday, followed by Falkirk, St Johnstone, Borussia Dortmund and Ross County before the next international break.

Kyogo Furuhashi may be the favourite to start in the majority of these matches. Still, he will need to be managed amid the volume of matches starting to creep onto the Celtic calendar.

The 29-year-old was in flying form against Rangers before the break. However, it wasn’t that long ago he experienced a shoulder flare-up, so it is best not to over-exert the Japan international when Idah is waiting in the wings to step in.

Firing nine goals in 19 appearances last campaign, the Cork-born frontman will be choking for a chance to set Celtic Park alight with his knack for being in the right place at the right time.

Rodgers will rotate his squad to manage the workload ahead. In light of his added sharpness gained featuring for Ireland, expect Idah to be in the starting line-up soon whether it be on the domestic scene or in continental competition.
