Some Celtic fans were not impressed with a mistake made by goalkeeper Scott Bain in the Hoops’ 5-2 win over Motherwell.

The Hoops recovered from going a goal behind to easily win the game, but Bain should have done better for Motherwell’s opening goal.

Beaten too easily for goal

Bain was beaten too easily by Liam Donnelly’s strike at near post. He didn’t look convincing with his kick-outs either, and he has had better games for the Hoops.

The reaction on social media was fairly damning towards Bain. One fan described his effort to save the goal as ‘poor’.

Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to Bain’s performance:

Neil Lennon’s response to Bain’s performance could be telling. If he picks Bain for the game against Cluj, it will show that he still has faith in the player.

Manager may have second thoughts about goalkeeper

Should Craig Gordon return though, then perhaps Lennon has had second thoughts about who his number one goalkeeper is.

Of course, another factor that should be taken into account is the money Celtic have received for Kieran Tierney.

Some of that £25 million could be spent on a goalkeeper. So far, Bain has done well for the Hoops for the most part.

However, he will know that he could have done better against Motherwell. Hopefully this is just a blemish, and Bain returns to form sooner rather than later.
