Celtic seem to be in the hunt for a striker in the summer transfer window. Indeed, Neil Lennon has claimed that signing a new striker is the top priority for the club in the summer.
There is a striker who is set to be released by his club in the Premier League who would add a new dimension to the Hoops – West Ham’s Andy Carroll.
New element to the Hoops side

Carroll will be released by the London side when his contract expires. He would add a new element to the Hoops play which they are lacking.
They don’t currently have a ‘target man’ type of player who can win headers or play in a partnership.
Carroll would certainly add that, heading is one of his best attributes as a player.

Fitness issues a worry
However, there is one huge question mark over Carroll as a player. His constant fitness problems. He has struggled with injuries for years.

Indeed, last season he was limited to only 14 games for West Ham.
However, if he can prove his fitness, he would be a more than useful addition to the Celtic squad. A partnership between Carroll and either Odsonne Edouard or Leigh Griffiths could provide plenty of goals for the Hoops.
Perhaps the Hoops would find it difficult to pay Carroll’s wages. However, if they can, they should seriously contemplate making a move for the striker.
