Anthony Ralston is one of the few Celtic players yet to see a minute of action in 2023.
The defender last featured for the Hoops in our 2-1 victory over Livingston on December 21.
Ralston picked up a knock in the pre-Christmas game and subsequently missed five games, before returning to the bench for one, and then missing five more.
He’s been back in the matchday squad for our last two fixtures and may finally be nearing a return to action.
In the time he’s spent off the pitch, Alistair Johnston has made himself a favourite amongst the Celtic support, and played his best game on Sunday.
But Ange Postecoglou still “thinks the world” of Ralston, as he put it to 67 Hail Hail in January.
Given how highly he rates the Scotland international, it really wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ralston in from the start pretty soon. Perhaps even this weekend against St. Mirren.
Postecoglou has opted to field the same defence of Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt and Taylor for the last five matches, but Ralston’s moment may be coming.
The Celtic defender had a watching brief at Hampden, but he was still front and centre of many of the celebrations.
This brilliant behind-the-scenes video posted by the club shows Ralston getting involved in a number of ways, most notably soaking his team-mates with champagne.
He’s loved by the Hoops supporters and will it will be wonderful to see him back in action.
Hopefully before the international break.
