Bizarre Alex Rae tweet shows Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is living rent-free in rivals' heads

Ange Postecoglou’s media work has been sensational since he became manager of Celtic.

Refusing to answer stupid questions and passionately setting out his vision for the Bhoys, he’s been a breath of fresh air in Scottish football.

As a bonus, he seems to seriously wind up rival supporters and pundits.

There’s no greater evidence of that than a bizarre Twitter message from former Rangers man Alex Rae this week, in which he appeared to suggest some sort of cover-up regarding Kyogo Furuhashi’s injury status.

For the hard of thinking out there here’s a slice of truth – Ange Postecoglou has absolutely no obligation to let everyone know exactly when and where Kyogo will be making his return.

Why would he announce that to the world? Better for it to be a nice surprise, such as before the Scottish League Cup final when his surprise presence gave the Bhoys a huge boost on the way to victory.

That media pundits are pursuing an alternative take on this just shows up the absurdity of Scottish football.

That Rangers fans are so bothered by the injury status of Kyogo is amusing, given how much he has been written off this season.

Postecoglou does things on his terms. He signs players on his terms. He deals with the media on his terms. The Celtic boss is not there to clue in rival teams on the state of his squad.

And so we go into the next week or so with some players’ status something of a mystery.

I doubt Postecoglou will answer a direct question on Kyogo before the derby, while we’ll undoubtedly get the coy treatment on Callum McGregor and Yosuke Ideguchi too.

That’s fine by me. That’s the Celtic manager doing his job. That it bothers rival supporters is simply proof they should be charging rent for Postecoglou’s stay in their headspace.

In other news, “I don’t know”; Bodo/Glimt boss makes honest Celtic admission.
