It seems that two of Celtic’s most important players could be transfer targets in the summer. The Daily Record is reporting that both Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor could be targeted by Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.

It would be a blow to Celtic if either of those players departed the club in the summer. However, it would be a bigger blow if McGregor was the player to depart.

Most important player

Over the last season, he has become the Hoops’ most important player. He is even more important to the side that Celtic skipper Scott Brown.

The team can still function without Brown, it finds it hard to do so when McGregor doesn’t play.

You can see how important McGregor is to Celtic when you look at the number of games he played for the club last season. He made 59 appearances, which is an incredible number of games.

He could have made even more appearances, if it hadn’t been for a calf injury.

Heartbeat of the side

McGregor is the heartbeat of the current Celtic side. Taking him out of the side would leave a void which would be very difficult to fill.

Celtic must look to avoid selling any of their most important players this summer. McGregor certainly falls into that category. Neil Lennon must tell the board that any bids for him are to be turned down, no matter how high they are.
