Celtic boss has to be brave and drop Callum McGregor

Celtic have for the most part been in very good form this season. Aside from the loss to Cluj, the only other real blemish so far was the recent draw with Hibs.

Despite that draw, the Hoops remain top of the league, and most of the mainstays of the side have been in good to great form.

That is particularly the case with the trio of Odsonne Edouard, James Forrest and Ryan Christie. The three have driven the Hoops forward, and have been excellent this season.

However, it is quite noticeable that there is one player who so far has not yet hit the heights of last season – Callum McGregor.

He has played almost every game for the Hoops so far this season, and has found it hard to influence games the way he has in recent seasons.

Feeling the effects of a lot of football?

Perhaps he is feeling the effects of playing a lot of football over the last few seasons. Therefore, Hoops boss Neil Lennon has to be brave, and drop McGregor from the starting line-up to play against Cluj.

Olivier Ntcham, who has done well for the Hoops recently, could well be the player to replace McGregor in the starting line-up.

Perhaps a brief spell out of the first-team will help McGregor kickstart his season. When he is on his game, he is one of if not the best player in Scottish football.

However, this season he has not played as well as he did last season. However, there is still plenty of time for McGregor to once more become the focal point of the team.

For now though, it makes sense for the player to be taken out of the side, for at least one game. McGregor could even return to the side for Sunday’s game against Livingston. Against Cluj though, Ntcham should be given the nod to start.
