Heading into two huge matches this week, Celtic boss Neil Lennon has a problem that many managers would love to have.

He has two strikers who are in excellent form. Odsonne Edouard has been in great form for Celtic since the start of this season. That will come as no shock to anyone.

However, the emergence of Vakoun Issouf Bayo may come as a bit of a surprise. He made his first start for the Hoops in the 3-1 win over Hearts, and despite having his two goals awarded as own goals, he performed excellently for the Hoops.

With Leigh Griffins most recently in reserve league cup action for the Hoops, it looks as if the two first-choice strikers at the moment are Bayo and Edouard.

It will be interesting to see which of the duo gets the nod to start the Europa League clash against AIK on Thursday.

Edouard would be the favourite to start in most circumstances. However, only three days after the AIK game Celtic go to Ibrox to take on Rangers. That may change things.

Edouard will be vital to Celtic’s chances of getting a result at Ibrox. Therefore, Lennon might well elect to give Bayo the start in the Europa league match.

Very impressive against Hearts

That would be seen as a gamble even before the recent game against Hearts. However, Bayo was impressive against the Tynecastle side.

Therefore, the Hoops boss should have no qualms about selecting the player for the Europa League clash. If he gets the goal which helps secure Europa League group stage football it will be a big boost to his confidence.

Celtic might have issues in other areas of the pitch. The full-back situation hasn’t been great this season. However, when it comes to strikers, the Hoops have a surplus of talent that many clubs will envy.
