Celtic only have two friendlies remaining before the season starts in earnest with the Champions League qualifiers.
The Hoops take on Sarajevo in the qualifiers, but before that they take on Wiener SC and St Gallen. Those two games will be used to get players fit and perhaps to try new things tactically.
Play two strikers
One thing that Neil Lennon should consider doing is playing Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard together as a strike force.
The pair have almost always played up-front on their own. But, it should be remembered that Edouard and Moussa Dembele partnered each other last pre-season before injury issues struck.
Griffiths might not be as talented as Dembele is. But that doesn’t mean that a strike partnership won’t work.
It is worth experimenting with at least in the Hoops’ upcoming friendlies. If it doesn’t work, then for the Sarajevo game the Hoops can revert to one striker.
Time is right to test new formations
But now is the time to test out new things. Perhaps Vakoun Issouf Bayo could also be involved. He will desperate for a chance after injury forced him to miss most of his first season with the Hoops.
Maybe Bayo and Edouard could play for a half each against Wiener SC. Both are certainly in need of some playing time before the Champions League qualifiers begin.
Lennon can use these games to experiment – a two man strike force could just work.
