Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths was selected for the club’s reserve side today, less than 24 hours after coming off the bench against Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
Apparently needing minutes to increase his fitness levels, the striker was professional enough to lace his boots and get 60 minutes of action under his belt.
He helped a young side progress past Dundee in the Scottish Reserves Cup, scoring a penalty on the way.
After seeing Vakoun Bayo produce such an electric performance yesterday, Griffiths will be eager to impress as much as possible ahead of a crucial week of action.
The Hoops play AIK on Thursday then Rangers on Sunday. Although unlikely to start either match, the Scotland international will want to prove to Neil Lennon he should be the go-to striking option off the bench.
An hour of football this afternoon will have done nothing to harm his chances. His attitude and application has been spot on since returning from a hiatus last season.
Having him around as a viable and committed back-up option is a fantastic thing for the team.

Plenty of fans were happy to see him put in the extra shift in the reserves, though some are a little concerned about his fitness.
