Eddy Atala, president of Honduran club Montagua, claimed this weekend that Emilio Izaguirre has an option to return to Celtic, The Scottish Sun report.
The veteran left-back has been training with the club in his homeland this summer but has not yet decided on his future.
Speaking about the options the 33-year-old has at his disposal, Atala told The Scottish Sun: “We spoke to Emilio Izaguirre’s agents this week and he has offers from clubs in the USA, Japan and Australia.
“There is also the possibility of him returning to Celtic, but that is only for a short time of six months. If Emilio decides he doesn’t like these offers, then we would of course offer him a contract here.”

While they are carrying Atala’s quotes, the paper itself believe that no contract offer from Celtic is on the table for the 106-cap international.
Izaguirre has already left the club twice. In 2017 he departed to join Saudi outfit Al-Fayha and having re-joined on a one year deal in 2018, left again this summer.
Once a first-choice defender at Celtic Park, the rise of Kieran Tierney gradually ensured the player would become surplus to requirements. That’s no different now. The signing of Boli Bolingoli means he would be even further down the pecking order.
Signing him again would, on the face of it, be a crazy decision. If Tierney is going to be out for an extended period due to injury or even sold this summer then real quality needs to be added to the squad.

It’s fair to say the speculation didn’t go down well with some Celtic fans.
