Celtic deserve credit for the fighting spirit they’ve shown at the start of the season.
Yes, the Hoops have turned on the style in some matches – beating Nomme Kalju and St. Johnstone 5-0 and 7-0 respectively. But they’ve also had to fight against adversity on a few occasions, and they’ve come through it with flying colours.

Back in our first competitive match of the season – away to FK Sarajevo – things threatened to get a little ugly when we trailed to a sloppy Bosnian opener. However, Neil Lennon’s men fought back to win the game comfortably.
The same could be said when the Hoops went behind in Romania on Wednesday. But again, Lennon’s side settled themselves and nabbed a crucial away goal. Again on Saturday, Celtic went behind to high-flying Motherwell before firing in five goals of their own.
This is really encouraging stuff from Lennon’s men, especially so early on in the season.

Celtic had been criticised for a lack of fighting spirit
What makes the fightbacks even more pleasing is that the team were roundly criticised for being too soft on the road last year. In the first-half of last season we lost to Rangers, Hearts, Kilmarnock and Hibernian away from home. All four defeats came courtesy of weak, inept performances.

Our recent turnarounds show that the team is buying into Lennon’s way of playing. They’re keen to move the ball forward a little quicker than last season, especially if we’re chasing a game.
They know what’s at stake for the club both domestically and on the continent this coming year. That is really pleasing to see from a Hoops point of view.
