Celtic must do all they can to keep Rocco Vata as European clubs watch over prospect

Young Celtic talent Rocco Vata is reportedly being tracked by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, such as Juventus and Arsenal [Tuttomercato].

Reports from the Italian media outlet stated that other clubs from the Serie A and English Premier League, including AC Milan, AS Roma and Manchester City, are watching the youngster closely.

Vata is a well-known name at Celtic, after Rudi, played for the club and became a popular figure during his time in Glasgow between 1993-1996.

However, his 17-year-old son is now making his own impact felt at Celtic as one of the Hoops current best academy talents rising through the ranks.

Over the past 18 months, the young winger has been a key component within the Bhoys B side, who are competing in the Lowland League, UEFA Youth League and Premier League International Cup.

After establishing himself as a consistent member of the squad last campaign, Vata has continued his impressive progress and development under Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus.

Celtic supporters were given their first glimpse of the Ireland under-18 international in the first team during pre-season when he featured and scored for the Hoops in a win against Wiener Viktoria.

He also made an appearance at Celtic Park in the summer, coming off the bench in a friendly against Blackburn Rovers.

His progress through the youth ranks at both club and country is clearly catching the eye of sides from across Europe who are watching over his development.

It is now up to Celtic to make sure they do all they can to keep ahold of one of our brightest young talents coming through at Lennoxtown.

Celtic must do their utmost to make sure Parkhead is where Vata’s future lies.

Although some of Europe’s biggest sides do appear to be circling their interest around the young Irish talent, it is good to see that the Tuttomercato report also mentions that Vata isn’t for sale.

After a strong first campaign as part of the Celtic B side, Vata’s brilliant development has continued into this season, and the attacker has arguably been the Bhoys’ strongest performer in 2022/23.

Vata has produced goals on the big stage against some top-class academies, including impressive strikes versus RB Leipzig and Fulham in recent weeks.

Across the last few years, the Hoops have lost some of our best talents to clubs from Europe. It is important we don’t let that happen with Vata.

The teenager has the credentials to continue his development and become a top winger who will hopefully one day feature as part of Ange Postecoglou’s first team.

The Sydney Cup taking place this November could be a good opportunity for Vata to be involved with the first team and pick up some valuable experience along the way.

It is no surprise to hear that other clubs are sniffing around another Celtic talent. But, hopefully, the club do their utmost to keep ahold of the talented youngster.
