Celtic must not sign another Oliver Burke this summer

Oliver Burke was a complete failure in his time at Celtic. The 22-year-old had an athletic build and extreme pace but he didn’t really offer anything else. His loan spell at Celtic petered out and he ended up netting just four goals in 19 appearances.

The English-born attacker’s speed and movement got him into some great areas in his time at the club but he didn’t ever really make the most of it.

He departed back to his parent club West Bromwich Albion without so much as a goodbye.

Another Burke on the horizon?

The latest murmurings are that Celtic could make a move for Manchester City youngster Brandon Barker this summer. The 22-year-old has never played for the Citizens, instead enjoying loan spells with four clubs in recent seasons – one of which was Neil Lennon’s Hibernian.

The English youth international scored just twice in 30 appearances for the Leith side. That record makes Burke look like Sergio Aguero.

Barker also possesses immense pace but lacks an end product as shown by his statistics. Celtic already have a surplus of options on the wings so where is the need to overcrowd things with another squad player?

We must be looking to improve every position by signing ready made first team players. Barker looks like he would be just another squad players. We don’t need another one of them.
