Celtic must look to sign another right-back this summer after deciding not to bring in Danny Simpson.
The Englishman was due in Lennoxtown for a trial this week but it’s been revealed that stint will no longer go ahead.

The Scottish Sun broke the story, saying that the 32-year-old wasn’t happy when told he would be second-choice to new-signing Hatem Abd Elhamed. Simpson wasn’t said to be keen on being an understudy so any potential move has been scrapped.
Abd Elhamed is expected to complete his move to the Scottish champions imminently but Neil Lennon still needs further reinforcements in the problem position.

Celtic must sign another right-back
Celtic lost Cristian Gamboa, Mikael Lustig and Jeremy Toljan at the end of the season and Lennon doesn’t seem too keen on Anthony Ralston.
The 20-year-old played the majority of the team’s friendlies in Austria and Switzerland but was dropped the minute a competitive match came around. Lennon instead decided to go with Kristoffer Ajer at right-back, despite the Norwegian rarely playing in the position before.

Israel international Abd Elhamed looks like our new number one right-back but we’re still badly in need of a back-up. Ralston isn’t fancied so shouldn’t be considered as anything more than a squad player.
Celtic mustn’t rely on the likes of Ajer to fill in at right-back throughout the season. We’ve got a chance to make our squad as strong as possible this summer and must grasp that opportunity with both hands.
Nothing but the best will do.
