Undoubtedly, Celtic face a summer of uncertainty with regards to their forward line. Odsonne Edouard looks set to depart, potentially leaving an important void for any prospective new Celtic manager coming in to replenish.

One striker who could come to the attention of Celtic this summer could be Hibernian star man Kevin Nisbet. Enjoying a fine debut season in the Scottish Premiership, the 24-year-old has scored an impressive 12 goals in 29 appearances [Transfermarkt]. Two more have come in the League Cup.

Linked with a move to Birmingham City in January [Birmingham Live], there’ll be a queue of suitors for the Scotsman. However, with the lure of European football and trophies on offer, Celtic surely offer the best career progression.

After all, plenty of ex-Hibs men have starred for the Bhoys. Scott Brown, Anthony Stokes and Leigh Griffiths have made the move to huge success.

Why would Kevin Nisbet be a ready-made addition to the Celtic strike-force?

Going forward at times this campaign, the Hoops have not been their usual ruthless selves in front of goal. Odsonne Edouard is on 16 Scottish Premiership goals so far for the season [Transfermarkt]. Behind the Frenchman, positional counterparts Leigh Griffiths, Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala have only mustered 14 league goals between them [Eurosport].  Making pretty grim reading for the Celtic support.

Notably, despite being heralded as a goal poacher, Nisbet has the ability to execute a wide variety of finishes effectively. Competent from inside or outside the box, the Glaswegian has shot to prominence in the Scottish top-flight due to his excellent ball-striking technique.

Currently the second top scorer in the Scottish Premiership [Transfermarkt], he would be an ideal solution to the Hoops profligacy problem and crucially should be within the Celts price range. Celtic may have to move on some assets this summer, however someone of Nisbet’s ilk would likely hit the goal trail in swift fashion.

Furthermore, the Scot has recently received international recognition after winning a call-up to Steve Clarke’s side yesterday afternoon.

This may be the perfect platform for the frontman to show his credentials to a vast audience. He should be a no-brainer of a transaction should the situation arise.
