Celtic should be targeting a move for 20-year-old Felix Nmecha from Manchester City’s Under-23 side as they rebuild for next season.

Nmecha has been one of the standout players within the Light Blues development squad in 20-21, scoring 8 goals in 15 Premier League 2 fixtures thus far. Intriguingly, his contract is due to expire at the end of May which may entice the Hoops to make an approach.

Additionally, he is currently under the stewardship of Celtic linked boss Enzo Maresca. Should the Italian end up in the Parkhead hot-seat, Nmecha would surely be earmarked. Capable in either central or attacking midfield, his creative intuition would bring a new dimension to the Hoops play.

Celtic have undoubtedly struggled against low-block backlines this campaign. Competing against similar defensive set ups for Manchester City, he has shown his capability to thread intricate passes to their forwards regularly. Used accurately, the German-born playmaker could become one of the best players in Scottish football at Parkhead before too long.

Could Celtic tempt Felix Nmecha to move north of the border?

Categorically, Celtic represent an attractive proposition for someone like Nmecha due to a number of factors. Looking at his profile, the starlet will believe his on field competence justifies a shot at first-team action already.

Coincidentally, the Celts will be looking to replace a number of senior players this summer. The club’s labours this season show that young hungry players are needed. That is, if Celtic are to try and reclaim the Scottish Premiership title at the first attempt.

The attraction of silverware and European football would give him the platform to showcase his skillset on a major stage. Celtic may need to sell the idea of using the club as a stepping-stone in order to secure premium talent.

However, this methodology of recruitment will benefit Celtic’s profile significantly in forthcoming years if used correctly. Nmecha would be a great opening example of this model.

Celtic should sign him at all costs.
