A report in the Daily Mail has claimed that should Celtic complete their £3 million deal for Motherwell’s David Turnbull, they will drop their interest in West Brom’s Rekeem Harper.
Should that be the case, it would be a mistake by the Scottish champions. Harper is out of contract, and would only cost the club around £300,000 to sign.
Manager watched player

He is obviously a player the Hoops have been interested in for a while. Neil Lennon was spotted at a West Brom game in May, presumably watching Harper.
The fact that such a young player made 23 appearances for a team going for promotion sounds promising. West Brom obviously have a lot of faith in the player.

Different type of player
Harper also seems to be a different type of player than Turnbull. He seems more in the Scott Brown mould. Winning the ball in the middle of the park and finding team-mates.

Whereas Turnbull seems to be much more attack-minded. He likes to get forward all the time and support his attacking team-mates.
Therefore, both players are more than capable of doing a job in the same Hoops side. Hopefully both players do end up signing for Celtic.
It would be a good start to a transfer window which could help define the next few years for Celtic.
