Celtic are about to head into an 11 game stretch that could define the season. The Hoops face a host of games, beginning against Livingston on Saturday, and ending against Rangers on the 29th of December, that could go a long way towards the Hoops potentially winning yet another domestic treble.
The run of games includes both the Betfred Cup Final and Celtic’s last two Europa League group stage matches. Celtic’s schedule will no doubt be tough on the players. However, it is a run of games that the current Hoops side should relish, and be full of confidence about.
Hoops in a great run of form
The reason for that is that Celtic are in a great run of form at the moment. They have won their last seven games in all competitions, scoring 23 goals in those matches. That is a run of form reminiscent of how well the Hoops played in the ‘invincible’ season of 2016-17.
The nature of the victories should also give the Hoops plenty of confidence. To come from behind twice to defeat Lazio should not be taken lightly. Celtic have also scored a lot of goals in the fixtures, a sign of a team in good form.
Key players are doing well
A number of players have come into good form at just the right time as well. Fraser Forster, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Christopher Jullien and Odsonne Edouard have all contributed to Celtic’s recent success.
Neil Lennon deserves plenty of credit for turning around Celtic’s fortunes after a few poor results in the Premiership. Since losing to Livingston, Celtic have gone from strength to strength, and the manager has to be applauded for that.
Playing 11 games in such a short period of time would be a problem for a few teams, but not this Celtic side, which has had unprecedented domestic success in recent seasons.
That is why the Hoops should be looking forward to this run of games, perhaps winning the 11 fixtures should not be ruled out. That would put the Hoops well on their way to winning another title. If any team can do it, it’s this current Celtic one.
