Andy Walker is right to say that Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate ‘have probably come to the end of their time’ at Celtic.
Maeda and Hatate have been mainstays in the Hoops side ever since making the move from Japan but have regularly been tipped to move on.
A summer transfer never materialised for Maeda while interest in Hatate has died down.
Both have been nowhere near their best this season and Walker thinks that the duo could be looking for new clubs.
Name three players you would sell in the current Celtic side
It’s time to let Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate leave Celtic
Walker was asked about the future of the Japanese duo following a difficult performance against Livingston.
He reckons that Hatate may need some time out of the team after struggling to make an impact, and that the idea of a move away is weighing on both of their minds.
Speaking on Go Radio, he said: “I think when you look at all the Japanese players and what they’ve contributed, I think even Maeda, who was really disappointed that he didn’t get that chance to move when he thought everything was done and dusted, I think those players have probably come to the end of their time.
You can only keep one of Daizen Maeda or Reo Hatate at Celtic…
Who do you pick?
“I think this will be their last season at Celtic, both Hatate and Maeda. But you want to try and go out on a high. I know there’s going to be a huge turnaround in the summer, but before then, if you’re in pole position to get as many games as you can, you want to try and contribute and make it another season to remember.”
Who is more likely to leave out of Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate?
If one were to leave this summer, it is more likely to be Maeda.
After blocking his summer exit, the club cannot stand in the way of the forward and deny him a transfer again.
He has given everything but the journey at Celtic seems to be coming to a close, for both of them. Let’s just hope it’s a happy ending.
