Celtic showed their unique selling point in all its glory against Slovan Bratislava

Celtic fans will still be catching their breath ahead of this weekend’s clash against Falkirk following an exhilarating Champions League victory against Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday.

Under the lights, the Bhoys came to life and reminded the continent that they are still capable of competing at the top table, albeit against a side they were favourites against.

Nevertheless, there is more to take from midweek than just the end result. Speaking as someone in attendance, the cauldron of atmosphere, togetherness and synergy on and off the pitch made for a fascinating spectacle.

If you were purely looking for selling points, you would’ve found plenty of positives on display, as everything that could’ve gone right for Celtic did on the night.

This logic can also be applied to potential new arrivals in future windows, who have been given a clear blueprint of what they could achieve by moving north of the border.

Celtic sold themselves as an attractive environment to play in

Elite billing hasn’t always come Celtic’s way in recent years, but when it does, the club will put on a show worthy of extensive viewership.

However, there was a different feeling about the other night. Arne Engels was just one of the Bhoys’ new signings to sample the European atmosphere on display for the first time, with Kasper Schmeichel and Auston Trusty in the same bracket.

With all at different stages of their career, they all have one thing in common: a new-found love for the noise and glamour they encountered.

Away from the semantics, there is a bigger factor at play. Celtic want to attract young players with potential, but they need to sell a vision at the same time.

In the past, they have done this with Matt O’Riley and countless others, but they didn’t get to capitalise on the feel-good factor that is engulfing the club at the moment, something that does feel rather unique despite the silverware of recent seasons.

Blending all these things, there’s a unique selling point showing its prevalence that marries in with the lack of ill feeling towards any aspect of the reigning Scottish Premiership champions at the moment.

Looking on from further afield, players from far-flung corners may be starting to envisage themselves as part of the excitement Celtic has to offer right now. For now, enjoy the ride.
